Baby
nursery furniture consists of cradles, cribs, bassinets, changing tables,
bedding and more. Probably the most exciting time of your pregnancy is
decorating the
baby nursery.
Here are some baby nursery
ideas to help add to your excitement:
Baby nursery patterns and
fabrics should be easy to clean as your newborn will spit up on it
often. If you purchase some crib bedding, your child will be out
of the crib in approximately two years. Some parents buy a "crib
bib" which stretches across where your infant's head lies. Should
your child spit up, then you merely change the "crib bib" instead of
washing instead of the whole sheet.
Other baby nursery necessities
are a stable changing table with a strap, something to entertain your infant
while you are changing his, or her, diaper such as pictures or a mobile.
A squishy, extra soft rug under the changing table to protect from a fall is a
good idea, just in case.
When choosing a baby nursery "theme" try and
avoid themes that your child will outgrow quickly.
A baby nursery should strike a
perfect balance between soothing and stimulating. A soothing room will
help your child sleep while an overly stimulating room will keep your infant
awake. Use of a night light or a dimmer switch will make late night
diaper changes much easier. Be sure your shades or curtains block enough
light so as to prevent your infant from waking with the morning sun unless you
enjoy being up at the crack of dawn.
Finally your baby nursery
should be safe for your child to play. Use bright, colorful shelving to
display stuffed animals and gifts you would rather be seen and not
broken. Avoid purchasing anything with sharp edges or that will
eventually become the perfect height to bump their head. Obviously cover
all wall outlets and prevent all windows from opening too wide or closing on
your child's fingers.
